Brofest takes place again this year at the Student’s Union of Northumbria University, located in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK).
Please be aware that there are 2 universities in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The festival takes place at Northumbria University – NOT Newcastle University!
Newcastle International Airport is situated 6 miles to the north west of Newcastle and offers flight connections worldwide. Northumbria University is within easy reach of the airport using the city’s Metro transport system. Haymarket Metro Station is 2 minutes walk from the Brofest venue. Metro trains from Newcastle Airport to Haymarket run from approximately 06:00 to 23:00 every day and the journey time is 25 minutes. More information can be found on the Metro website.
Alternatively taxis are available at the Airport. A journey into Newcastle takes around 15 minutes and costs under £20.
Megabus and National Express provide a lot of routes into Newcastle.
Newcastle is situated on the East Coast mainline between Edinburgh and London. Journey time from London is under 3 hours. We recommend booking in advance for the cheapest train fares.
Depending on where you are coming from, Newcastle can be just a few stops away. For example;
- Jesmond – 1 Stop
- West Jesmond – 2 Stops
- Airport – 11 Stops
- Tynemouth – 11 Stops – Get off Monument and Walk
- Whitley Bay – 13 Stops – Get off Monument and Walk
- South Shields – 14 Stops
Newcastle is also easily reached by car with the A1 connecting north and south and the A69 to the west. Parking in the city centre can be expensive, however numerous park and ride schemes are available and the car parks are free after 5pm and all day Sunday. There is no parking directly at Northumbria University for gig goers and we recommend leaving your vehicle at the hotel if possible!
